OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

While physical therapy may have a broader mobility application, Home Health Occupational Therapy focuses on more specific functional activities and movements that the patient needs to do for daily living.

Utilizing the common items at home or special adaptive equipment, the Occupational Therapist will train the patient or caregiver in activities such as self-grooming, dressing, toileting and bathing. There are also advanced activities such as cooking, house keeping, laundry and shopping that Occupational Therapy is particularly geared toward.

The patient’s home and nearby environment is the perfect location to receive this skilled service. In addition to the above, Occupational Therapy focuses on community re-integration, as well as introducing patients to leisure- type activities that provide a holistic approach to treating the patient.
